Maximum gross vehicle weight allowed on any Grand Forks County road is 105,500 lbs. For heavier loads the department can issue oversize or overweight permits. Seasonal load restrictions are placed on all roads during the spring in Grand Forks County. Typically load restrictions are in place from mid February through May, but vary each year depending on actual moisture and weather conditions. The County uses the same guidelines, time frame and recommendations as the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT). Watch for official notices in the Grand Forks Herald and this website each spring. It’s worth noting that US Hwy 2 in some years is used as a dividing line.

Grand Forks County spring load restrictions shall be lifted and come off county wide Monday May 13th 8:00 am.
