The Fordville Dam Recreation Area and RV Park is located just 2 miles south, 1 mile east and 1 mile south of the city of Fordville, North Dakota on the northwestern edge of Grand Forks County.
Construction on the dam began in 1975 and completed in 1978. 329,834 cubic yards of fill were used in the construction. The height of the dam is 49 feet, with 197 acres of pool surface. Pool storage is 2185 acre feet with additional flood storage of 3150 acre feet. The drainage area covers 41.5 square miles.
The project was built by the Grand Forks, Walsh, and Nelson County Water Resource Districts, Soil Conservation Service and USDA. It is also referred to as the Middle South Branch of the Forest River –structure 4.
Come and visit our newly renovated campsite and RV park. The RV park has 23 camper sites with 19 of them having a sewer hook-up and 24 primitive sites with water. New playground equipment is available with lots of picnic sites, swimming beach and some of the best fishing in the state of North Dakota. Golf carts in the recreation area are allowed. Dogs on a leash only. The Fordville Dam Recreation Area and RV Park are operated by the Grand Forks County Water Resources District. Come see us soon!
