Pets are an important part of may peoples lives. It is just as important to prepare for them in a disaster as it is for the rest of your family. You want to make sure to have extra food and water pack with your emergency supplies. Along with extra food and water you also want to have a spare leash, collar, and cage. Disasters are a stressful time for everyone, including pets. Having a spare toy or comfort item for you pet can help them during a stressful time. 

Pet Preparedness Quick Tips

  • If you pet needs medication talk to your vet about getting an extra prescription to keep in an emergency kit
  • consider getting your pet microchipped and make sure they have a tag with updated contact info on their collar
  • have important documents like registration papers and vaccinations in your emergency kit
  • Talk to your neighbors about checking on your pet in an emergency in the event you are out of town
